Chris Murray – who wrote and starred in a streamlined, five-actor version of Hamlet at CoHo last year – returns to the co-producer role for a play that Variety described as “a lurid comic phantasmagoria of life on the underside of Middle America.” Michael O’Connell, a founding member of Third Rail, will direct.

Ebbe Roe Smith and Laura Faye Smith aren’t related, but they do both act frequently at Portland Center Stage and they team up here to mount a world premiere. Ebbe Roe Smith has had success with his pen before, including the early Third Rail hit Number Three. Laura Faye Smith has had success before as a CoHo co-producer, with the 2008 staging of Adam Bock’s The Receptionist.

Three principal players from the celebrated Salem Repertory Theatre, Ted deChatelet, David Janoviak and Tim Manion, reunite as the co-producing team for this unique performance. A small group of actors embody a variety of Dicken’s most intriguing characters in the adaptation the New York Times says has “heart, humor and twists that keep the audience engaged until the final resolution.”
